Dear watercolor workshop participant,

I’m looking forward to the time we’ll spend together this summer. Watercolors are always an adventure, as well as, a challenge; I anticipate you will have fun while you are learning.

I expect the weather to be wonderful, however, since I hold outdoor workshops, please plan to come prepared. Depending upon the locale, we could encounter anything from bugs to bears; not to mention the potential for inclemental weather. Bring bug repellent, pepper spray (where appropriate), sunscreen, rain jacket, sun/rain hat and enough clothing to be comfortable if it gets cool. Plan to bring a sack lunch for your noon meal, since it may not be practical to try to buy lunch during the lunch break.

Participants should plan to register during the first morning of the class. If you have not paid the full amount for the course, please be prepared to do so at that time since only those who have paid the class fees may attend. Registration for college credit will also be completed at that time. Remember that the check for college credit should be made out to Northwest Nazarene University, and should be a separate check from the class fees.

Attached with this letter is a suggested materials list to help you prepare for the workshop. Please note that there will be people with a wide range of experience in the workshop. Please do not feel intimidated if you have little or no experience...you are taking the class to learn. Also note that it is not critical to have exactly what I have in terms of materials or paints. It is critical to have "watercolor" materials, however, rather than supplies for acrylic or oil painting. If you are already well equipped, then just make sure that what you bring will be portable and is similar to what I have suggested. The paper is probably the most critical item for good results. Unless you are experienced in watercolors and prefer a different brand, I suggest that you purchase the paper I have listed

If you have any further questions please feel free to e-mail or call.

Sincerely,

Erica Craig
